Who We Are

Built by founders, for founders navigating early growth

We've been through what you're experiencing right now. The late nights fixing cash flow spreadsheets. The Monday morning investor calls that go nowhere. The feeling that everyone else has figured something out that you're still guessing at.

ulmorasyphi started because we got tired of watching talented people struggle with preventable mistakes.

Our Story

Started in Perth, now helping founders across Australia

Back in early 2023, three of us sat in a shared office space in Armadale watching another friend's startup fold. Not because the product was bad. Not because the market wasn't there. They just ran out of runway before they figured out unit economics.

That happened more times than we could count. Smart people with real solutions, failing because nobody taught them how to read a balance sheet or structure a cap table properly.

So we built something different. Not another accelerator promising connections. Not another course filled with theory. Just practical financial training from people who've actually closed funding rounds, managed burn rates through tough quarters, and made it past the three-year mark.

What Guides Us

How we approach startup finance education

Real scenarios only

Every case study comes from actual companies we've worked with. We change names but keep the numbers real so you can see what actually happens when revenue dips or an investor pulls out.

No gatekeeping

Finance people love making simple things sound complicated. We don't. If you can't explain something clearly, you probably don't understand it well enough yourself.

Built for bootstrappers

Most finance advice assumes you've already raised millions. We focus on the stage where every dollar matters and you're still trying to prove the model works at all.

Meet The Team

People who've actually built companies

We're not consultants who've spent careers advising. We've been operators who had to make payroll when the bank account was low and figure out whether to cut marketing or delay hiring.

Siobhan Ellsworth, Founding Partner at ulmorasyphi

Siobhan Ellsworth

Founding Partner

Raised two seed rounds and one Series A before selling her logistics SaaS company in 2024. She spent three years as CFO for a Melbourne-based fintech after that and still has stress dreams about cash flow forecasts.

Petra Thorvaldsen, Head of Startup Programs at ulmorasyphi

Petra Thorvaldsen

Head of Startup Programs

Bootstrapped an ed-tech company to sustainable profitability without outside funding. She knows what it's like to grow slowly when everyone around you is raising big rounds and spending fast.

Our Approach

What makes our programs different

  • Small cohorts mean you actually get feedback on your specific situation, not generic advice that sounds good but doesn't help

  • We work through your actual financials during sessions so you leave with models you can use the next day

  • Programs run for months, not days, because changing how you think about money takes time and repeated practice

  • Everyone teaching has operated companies within the past five years so the context is current, not outdated
